Activities and Documentation for Childcare Business

Activities and Documentation for Childcare Business Nabeelah Lallmamode Explain the documentation that is required to be kept when running a child care business from a home setting. Businesses are governed by legislations and requirements that help support it’s continuity. In this assignment we will be looking closely at the documentation and it’s importance to guaranteeing a successful and child friendly business. CRB check, Child Record form, Accident and Emergency forms to more legally abiding forms such as the contract between the caregiver and receiver, are all in place to ensure practices are followed correctly. Various regulatory bodies such as Ofted[1] are there to ensure that this type of business is coherent to the legislations and rules to ensure a healthy and safe environment for the recipient The Child Record, helps to provide us with basic but mandatory information on the child. It also provides us with next of kin details and any other contact information that is essential to the child wellbeing and safety. It is a good practice to keep all forms directly related to the child grouped together such as medical records, existing injuries and accident forms. Medical records are vital to maintaining a child’s wellbeing whilst in care. It details information on the existing medical condition and allergies as well as prescribed and non-prescribed medication. There should be a signed consent form for the worker to administer medication should the need arise. All medication should be stored safely and in it’s original packaging. Accident forms and Existing Injuries Forms are also required to protect the business legally. Upon enrolment a child must be examined for any existing injuries and detailed correctly on the forms again with a signature by both parties. Child care Agreement Form, like the child record form contains mandatory information, however this form is the contract between parent and child care provider. Standard agreements can be purchased online from National Association of Child-minders. They provide information to parents about what they are signing up for and they have access to professional that can help with legal issues relating to contracts. The consent given by parents plays a big role in the daily activities of the child in day care. The Outgoing and Consent Forms as well as Vehicle record and Parent permission form is required in order for the child to participate in recreational activities. It provides the business with authority to take the child out of day care. The business should have the correct insurance in place if the child is being taken out of the care setting during contracted hours. Appropriate vehicle insurance is also essential if the child is being driven by a member of staff. Additional forms are also required to be kept by a childcare business. Finance records detailing transactions between two parties, Fire Safety detailing correct evacuation details and Complaints Records helping to deal with concerns are also required to be kept. All Records can be shared with Ofsted and other independent bodies. Staff are subjected to a CRB check before commencing employment, this will give the employer an insight into the background of the employee as well as any criminal history. All forms mentioned above can be found on Pacey[2] website to help facilitate the admin process. In order to maintain the strict operation of a child care business from a home setting, we need to understand the importance of housing information that is directly linked to the child. There are several forms that are in place in order to help the business understand the child and their needs more closely. We can conclude by looking at the nature of the forms required, that the main purpose of the information, is provided without any flaws a safe and secure environment for any child attending. Keeping documents updated can mean the difference between a good and an outstanding Ofsted rating. Nabeelah Lallmamode   Describe the range of activities that can be used to stimulate a child’s development. Reference must be made to physical, intellectual and social development for both babies (0-12 months) and children (1-5 years). In order for a child’s brain to develop, they must have experienced a range of activities, which help them to differentiate between gross motor skills and fine motor skills. We will look closely at activities that fall inline with the skills mentioned above and how this can help a child’s development intellectually, socially and physically. Regardless of age group, a child needs to be exposed to certain experiences and environment in order to build on their mental and physical health. Gross motor skills, is developed through physical play. This can be expressed through crawling, rolling around and supervised free movement from babies ranging from 0-12 months. This can be backed up by ‘Motor development occurs in an orderly sequence, starting with lifting the head, then rolling over, sitting up, crawling, standing, and walking’[3] Developing gross motor skills in children aged 1-5 can be argued to be easier as they are more able to participate in physical activity without the help of their parents. Activities such as, skipping and running help to encourage strength and coordination. Other activities help to enhance physical development of gross motor skills such as throwing and catching a ball helping to develop coordination skills, riding a bike helps to teach balance, hopscotch which can be regarded as an intellectual game; strengthens numeracy skills as well as developing physical movements. These gross motor skills are developed into Fine Motor Ski lls in later years. Fine Motor skills, develops skills and control of muscle movements. Examples of this would be fastening clothing, writing, drawing and using a knife and fork during meal times. These activities require coordinated and precise movements, which help to build a child’s development. Babies ranging from 0-12 months require a lot of care and attention in order to stimulate a child’s development you must hold your baby as much as possible so they feel warm personal interactions like hugging, eye contact and smiling. Playing and reading to your baby as well as using Multi sensory books are excellent in aiding you child to listen and hear music see the colours and feel different textures of materials. This greatly helps stimulate a baby’s intellectual development, which can again be improved upon during later years. ‘Provide your child with social experiences with other children by age 2 years. If he or she is not in day care, consider starting or joining a play group. Young children can learn important lessons from each other, especially how to get along with other people.’[4] Toddlers require different activities to help developed their physical, intellectual and social development, which begins from 12 months. An excellent activity to carry out with them would be board games as it helps to develop strategic thinking and coordination. It is also recommended that asking them questions will help develop their intellect and also prepare them for social conversations in the future. Teaching sign language at the age of 7-8 months will enable them to sign by themselves in the future. Providing your child with recreational experiences will enrich their social development. A good type of role-play to use would be a pseudo hospital environment whether your child uses empathy as well as soc ial skills to determine what is wrong with the patient. Helping your child to develop physically, intellectually and socially can begin at a young age. It is important that we express the need to teach our child even as studies have indicated they pick up on audio and visual and sensory communication even from birth. We can conclude even though that a child can not communicate with us, by us communicating with them we are helping to stimulate their development that will help to provide them with the foundation of physical, social and intellectual development later in life. Nabeelah Lallmamode Write a draft food health and safety policy that can be used in the home childcare setting. Reference should be made to the EYFS statutory framework standards. Policy Statement To provide food that is deemed fit for consumption with compromising on dietary/religious needs. To ensure cleanliness and hygiene when dealing with and preparing food for consumption. To maintain without fail a clean, tidy and hygienic area where food is being stored, prepared and consumed in a childcare setting. Code of Conduct: Where meals are to be provided, they should be healthy, balanced and nutritious. Due to religious beliefs and dietary needs, the ingredients used and method of preparation should be individual to the worker/child’s needs if required. All food is to be checked before consumption by the workers within the childcare setting to minimise the risk of poisoning. Requirements: It is a must that the correct training is given to each member responsible for handling food. Fresh drinking water should be provided during every mealtime. Providers must record and act on information provided by parents of the children attending the childcare setting. There must be a well-maintained, hygienic area where food is being prepared and consumed. Where deemed necessary baby equipment used when aiding consumption should be sterilized before and after it’s use. If for any reason the member dealing with food is unwell or unable to handle food they should notify a superior. Any food incidents resulting in a two or more children becoming unwell will need to be reported to Ofsted or Child minder agency of which they are registered. Notification must be made within 14 days unless stated otherwise. Daily Practices: Food is fit for consumption. Make sure food is handled in the correct manner. Make sure the food is of the highest quality as expected by health officials. Food is not to be mislabeled or stored in a way that could make it harmful for consumption. Records of where the food is brought from will need to be detailed. If food additives are to be used make sure they are safe and will not compromise a child’s dietary needs or religious beliefs. A registered provider who fails to comply with all of the above, without reasonable excuse/circumstances, will be committing an offence. Nabeelah Lallmamode Construct a travel plan, which discusses the various factors that need to be taken into consideration when carrying out a visit from the childcare setting. Travel plans can be defined as being a package of actions designed by a workplace, school or other organisation to encourage safe, healthy and sustainable travel options.[5] In this assignment we will be looking at the effectiveness of these plans and implement different situation’s and it’s outcome. In order to make a journey safe we must evaluate different factors that can influence and alter the pattern of travelling. When carrying out a travel plan from a childcare setting we can look to various means of transportation such as walking, public transport and personal transport. If travel is being planned under the basis of walking various factors will need to be focused on. Depending on the age of the child in the childcare setting we have to establish whether he or she is physically able to walk the distance. The childcare setting will need to establish if there is sufficient pushchairs/wheelchairs, reigns and reflective tabards for the children, any equipment used will need to be tested beforehand. Not only is it essential to plan before setting out, it is also essential to teach the children about different signs and situations that can occur whilst on path to the destination. Children need to be taught about road safety and the best way to do this is through theory and practice. By teaching children about road safety (do’s and don’ts) pelican crossing, green man signals and Zebra crossing we are expanding their road safety knowledge. Embedding safety practices such as stop, look and listen will help build awareness of the traffic on road. It is often expected that public transport will be used during travel and making the children aware of the correct procedures when using these services will also provide them with the safety knowledge required. We have to establish the children’s independence of using public transport. Will they be able to stand and wait for the transport? Will transportation be used during rush hour? If so how can we decrease risk and increase awareness. Children will also need to be made aware of the risks present when using trains such as minding gaps and standing behind the yellow line. There are many activities, highlighted on government website[6] that can be practiced before setting out. Issuing correct paper work and obtaining consent also helps build a secure travel plan. When carrying out visitation from a childcare setting, the persons responsible (a CRB checked employee) will need to have all correct documentation in place such as consent forms. A first aid kit must be carried at all times by the worker along with a means of communication. Workers required, is dependent on group size. . If visitation is carried out through means of personal transport such as car or company van the correct, ‘vehicle record and permission to travel in a vehicle’ consent form is required. We are made aware on a daily basis through the means of advertisement, the safety and cautiousness that is required when travelling ourselves. It is even more essential to implement these procedures when carrying out visitation from a childcare setting. As can be seen above various methods and practices can be explored before a child is exposed to such activities and all this plays a part in constructing an effective travel plan. Safety awareness is all too important and helping to embed these into a child from an early age we positively increase awareness when they are travelling by themselves in later years. Art :: essays research papers

. You are capturing your impressions of a scene before you. In art, you are able to make something beautiful out of the ordinary. There is a relationship between artists and the world around them. The world is constantly changing but art will forever remain the same. The works in progress Les Demoiselles d’ Avignon means â€Å"the young ladies of Avigon.† It was painted by Pablo Picasso in 1907. The early sketch reveals that it originally had seven figures, five prostitutes, a sailor, and a medical student carrying a book. The crouching figure is complex in Study for the crouching Demoiselle. An earlier drawing reveals that what would become her hand is originally her arm and Her eyes were originally her breasts. Her mouth was originally her bellybutton.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In the critical process the photograph is not a still life because the flower is wilting in the painting. That is not plaesureable. Still life is designed to induce in the spectator a higher order of thought. The vanitas tradition requires a skull in the painting. The lighting is dark. The background is almost as dark as the vase. They almost blend together. Figure 39 is one of the great examples of Impressionism, a mode of painting that dominated let nineteenth-century art in the Western world, especially in France. Claude Monet’s The Regatta at Argenteuil is representing every detail of a scene exactly as it appears. Monet’s purpose is to question the nature of representation itself. The picture is a representation. It is not very life-like. I think it is very sketchy. There are broad dashes of paint. I feel that he is expressing his pint of view to nature in his art work.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The tension and conflict between the uncontrollable forces of nature and the civilizing powers of human society dominated American art and literature in the nineteenth century. Thomas Cole painted this theme in a series of five paintings called The Course of Empire. The painting represents according to Cole, â€Å"the history of a natural Scene, as well as an Epitome of man; showing the natural changes of landscape and those effected by man in his progress from Barbarism to Civilation-to the state of luxury-to the vicious state or state of Destruction, etc.

Soccer Masidlale Programme

IntroductionDue to past and current rumours regarding spur, the participation of Spur being a part of a CSR programme will help the businesses ROI. By looking at uplifting the community it should allow for consumers to feel they should contribute to this effort. This should in the end increase Spurs return on investment. Spur being involved with a CSR initiative should allow for the employee buy in of the business. This should ultimately create a positive atmosphere as well as a positive work environment for all employees. This in the end allowing for consumers to feel more welcomed when intending on buying from Spur.Secondary Research30 000 children have so far been reached by the CSI (Corporate Social Investment) program sponsored by Spur: The Spur Soccer Masidlale Programme (what it does): †¢ Essential Life skills are taught to the children. †¢ Disadvantaged areas are the focal point for this programme and to so this initiative will help uplift these areas. †¢ Children in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth are supported by this initiative. †¢ Sport is used as their CSR programme which enables them to uplift the community.200 players of mixed boys and girls take part from 10 local schools and each child receives a Spur branded soccer kit which they can keep afterwards. †¢ The reason Spur has used sport as their initiative, is that it is seen as a â€Å"metaphor for life†. A life skills programme is run alongside the soccer initiative and this teaches the children skills needed for life. The children are equipped further than that upon the sports field. This addresses the socio-economic issues of poverty as it is making it more aware to members of the public, encouraging them to participate in their initiative. This also shows that Spur wants to uplift the community and prove that they want to give back to the community using sport and equipping them with the necessary skills for life. The Spur Foundation'The Spur Foundation was established on International Mandela Day, 18 July 2012, with a donation of R670 000 by the Spur Corporation, resonating with the '67 minutes' theme of Mandela Day, and the founding of the Spur family in 1967. The Foundation aims to uplift and improve the lives of South African families, especially children, in line with its core value of generosity and Ubuntu' The foundations motto is ‘Nourish, Nurture, Now!' This is used to support disadvantaged communities by providing them with education and help fed them. It also provides the basic necessities and amenities for all the children. â€Å"Fill a tummy, feed a mind†.The Full Tummy Fund initiative was launched by the same foundation in 2016 and is used in order to help aid children's development during their first 2000 days, focusing primarily on their education and nutrition. As stated from the previous socio-economic issue, Spur wants to carry on reaching out to the poverty stricken areas that are in dire need of assistance and help by assisting with the nourishment of their children and to educate their youngsters. With the Spur Foundation initiative in place, this will help these disadvantaged areas by providing the children with the proper nutrition that is needed and provides education to them, therefore allowing them to uplift their community and be innovative. This ultimately will improve Spurs image and make customers feel more obliged to support them as they will want to be a part of the foundation to help those in need. These initiatives are relevant to my topic as they provide external information that will be beneficial to my hypothesis and will prove that by Spur conducting CSR it will have a positive impact upon their ROI.By Spur conducting CSR it does good as it will:'Doing good can also be great for business; a growing body of research indicates that a socially responsible company can expect an increase in sales, profitability and value. Having a well-defined and active CSR initiative can help a company achieve the following: †¢ Attract and retain qualified personnel †¢ Enhance employee engagement †¢ Increase customer loyalty, sales and profitability †¢ Bolster community goodwill †¢ Safeguard corporate reputation' †¢ Bring customers back to the business, especially after recent incidents. As stated above, by Spur being involved in multiple CSR initiatives it will create a good name for the business and create customer loyalty as consumers will want to have shown that they are interested in what Spur wants to achieve. This will not be seen immediately but word of mouth will develop and over time Spur will experience more support from members of the public. As more customers are willing to help Spur uplift the community more capital is generated thus allowing for Spurs return on investment to break even and go further allowing for their initiatives to reach further than that of what they have now and perhaps come up with new initiatives. Similar reasons as to why businesses such as Spur should be involved with a CSR programme: 1. You will have satisfied employees: -this meaning that the businesses employees will be proud of the organization they are working for thus bringing a good name for the business internally which then gets spoken about externally creating a positive image towards the business in this case Spur. 2. By conducting CSR you will create satisfied customers: -from past records it has shown that by a business conducting CSR it will improve the customer's attitude towards the business. If this is gained, the customer will undoubtingly come back to the business and buy the businesses products or services and on top of it, the customer will be less willing to go to another brand. 3. There will be a positive Public Relation: -CSR will provide an opportunity to share positive stories. This will benefit companies as it is a free form of advertisement. Businesses will not have to fret about having to pay for advertisements. Free publicity is thus generated and is spread by word of mouth. 4. There will be a reduction in costs: -a CSR programme doesn't have to cost money, if it is being conducted properly. Steps for a company to reduce costs are as follows: †¢ Have a more efficient staff hire and retention system. †¢ The implementation of energy saving programs. †¢ The management of potential risks and liabilities more effectively. †¢ As said by investing more into the traditional marketing way of word of mouth. 5. Business opportunities are created: -as we know a CSR program is to be pen and allow for an outside orientated approach. The business must have constant communication between all its stakeholders (customers, suppliers and other important parties).the reason for this communication is that you will then be the first to know of opportunities that your business can be a part of. 6. There is a long term future for the business: -this means that as a business you are looking at the long term results of the CSR programme and also the businesses continuity. Many large corporations generally refer to this as the shaping of a more sustainable society. These few extra reasons further support the fact that CSR will create a positive brand image for Spur and allow for a greater desire for them to want to carry on as it will certainly provide them with free marketing strategies thus allowing for more profit that can possibly be used to further invest in their CSR initiatives. Primary ResearchBar graph representing all answers that were answered either agreeing with questions asked or disagreeing. As seen in the above graph, many of the candidates that volunteered to answer the questionnaire have all agreed with many of the questions. In the questions it is noticed:Question 1:-Most volunteers agreed that by Spur conducting a CSR program it will be beneficial for the business as it will most definitely create a good name for the business.-Volunteers did disagree however saying that the market will not increase as of experiences from the past involving Spur and that has now spread rumours.-In Secondary research, we see that a business will create a good name for themselves by being involved in a CSR initiative. They believe that spread of mouth about Spur will help increase their market share.Question 2:-Seen again, all volunteers agree that branding has a huge impact upon the business as they could possibly lose customer loyalty, their brand will not be recognised or trust amongst the consumers towards the business is lost.-Customer loyalty is massive when it comes to a business functioning correctly. If the business has no customers there are no funds to allow the business carrying on with the path that they are o n.Question 3:-All volunteers have reacted in saying yes that a CSR program will address a current socio-economic factor and it will resolve that matter.-We all know that by a business addressing a current socio-economic factor; it will help in the long term as it will benefit those factors and improve them. -Many volunteers have replied in the same way saying that by businesses conducting CSR they will uplift the communities and therefore improve the standards of living of all people invested in their initiatives.Question 4:-All volunteers have approved in saying that they would most definitely be proud of their business if the business were to conduct CSR.-We know that if the employees of our company are happy with the business and are proud of it they will be more motivated to work and staff morale will increase thus bringing in more profits towards the business as more work is then done. -Most have responded in saying that they want to be a part of something that they know will uplift and benefit the community. They will be proud that the business is willing to take time out to benefit the community and uplift our standards of living.Question 5:-Most volunteers agree that most businesses conduct CSR because it is a free marketing system for their brand to be noticed by external stakeholders. People will be drawn to the fact that the business (Spur) is conducting CSR and will then therefore want to help the business achieve their goals by buying from them and supporting them. – Few volunteers disagreed saying in the long run this CSR initiative is more expensive than advertising. Some believe that it should involve passion and emotion. -We learned that in the Secondary research that CSR is a free form of advertising for the business and we all know that advertising fees are expensive so businesses us CSR initiatives to their advantage.Question 6:-All agreed in saying that Spurs CSR initiatives will improve the standards of living if they carry on. -Some have mentioned that perhaps more effort is needed in order to make more of an impact. They may believe this as there is many people suffering in disadvantaged areas and perhaps Spurs initiatives need to be expanded in order to care for even more people.Question 7:-All have agreed that it would be more beneficial if they were to know that Spur conducted a CSR program thus making them want to help in the initiative. -Communication is key in a business as if there is no communication members will not know what beneficial work they are involved in.Question 8:-Few have answered in saying that Spurs initiatives will have an impact upon society but most lean to saying no as they would need to increase their efforts to make a really large effect. – Volunteers who agreed said that every bit counts, this will not ultimately uplift the community but as said every little bit does count when uplifting the community. -For majority to have said no, it could possibly also mean that there is no communication from the business to the external market in saying that they do conduct CSR initiatives and to so many are unaware as to what spur des and are not willing to wanting to support.Question 9:-Most volunteers have agreed that businesses should conduct CSR to benefit the community. Yes it is a free way to market the business but the community is the main focus and this is what the whole point of a CSR initiative stands for.Three volunteers have replied saying no and the reason is that a CSR program is expensive and it could possibly disadvantage the business. -The main focal point of CSR is to benefit the community and the planet as well as making a profit, so in a sense the business is saving money by conducting CSR as they do not have to pay for advertisements. This money however can be used to further more improve their CSR initiatives or perhaps invest into new initiatives.Question 10:-Majority of the volunteer answers agreed saying that the â€Å"Fill a tummy, Feed a mind† initiative should only focus on children. They agree in saying that children are most in need as they have no control over their current situation thus need the support that Spur id offering them. Although they did add ideas in saying that Spur should extend the time period of this project for the children as they say that 2000 days is not enough for the children as it is only five years. -Volunteers did disagree with the initiative and say that they should not only focus primarily on children. Many people are in dire need of education, life skills and food as our economy is so poor so therefore they should have access to it as well. Volunteers added as well that it is also quit taxing on the business as 2000 days is quite a long time to look after a child, not just one but many. -For a business it can be quite taxing to their profits especially when they are providing for more than 20 000 children. Although it can be quite taxing perhaps in some cases Spur can be flexible in allowing to extend the 2000 days' time period especially if they are in dire need and have no assistance. This Primary Research has furthermore proven that the CSR initiatives undertaken by Spur are beneficial to the business as a whole. It will help benefit the business from marketing strategies through to eradicating bad stigma about past incidents which have brought the Spur franchise name down. This will help the business be recognised and allow for more consumers to feel more encouraged to support Spur.ConclusionsThe Primary research as well as the Secondary research helps prove that Spurs involvement with its CSR initiatives does have an impact upon their business which ultimately will improve their ROI. We see in the primary research that many of the volunteers feel that if the business is willing to give back to the community and are willing to help, consumers will feel more encouraged to help support the businesses and help uplift their community as well as looking at the possible opportunity to uplift the nation as a whole (in the long term). In order for Spur to possibly improve their CSR they can look at: †¢ The practice of transparency towards its consumers and their employees. Make it part of their organisational structure. Inform the larger community about all ventures of the business. This will help consumers understand everything that is being conducted within Spur. †¢ Encourage innovation within the business as well as the community. This will allow for new ideas for the business and new ideas for the business to get itself involved with.

Descartes vs. Pascal - 1177 Words

Descartes vs. Pascal For centuries, human beings have been debating over the validity of the use of reason. This is a very, very difficult subject to discuss, as one is forced to study something which is at that moment being used in their study. Two classic thinkers who contrasted on their view of reason were Descartes and Pascal. Though both saw reason as the primary source of knowledge, they disagreed over the competence of human reason. Descartes, the skeptic, said that we could use reason to find certain truth if we used it correctly, while Pascal said that we cant know certain truth, but reason is the best source of knowledge that we have. Descartes: Reason is the tool by which we know everything that we know. But most†¦show more content†¦We have been deceived, as Ive previously written, Man is only a subject full of error . . . Nothing shows him the truth. Everything deceives him. These two sources of truth, reason and the senses, besides both wanting in sincerity, deceive each other in turn (Pascal #83). But, as Ive also written, Man is but a reed, the most feeble thing in nature; but he is a thinking reed (Pascal #347). Therefore, our use of reason is retarded, but we do have reason and can use this reason to find truth. We can doubt these truths as Descartes thoroughly explained, but we have no choice but to find truth. As Ive argued about the existence of God, Shall he doubt whether he [God] exists? We cannot go so far as that; and I lay it down as a fact that there never has been a real complete skeptic. Nature sustains our feeble reason, and prevents it raving to this extent (Pascal #434). We can trust our senses, as Descartes concluded, with the realization that we cannot rely solely on empirical knowledge. We also have intuitive ideas from which we learn truth. As Ive said, The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know. We feel it in a thousand things (Pascal, #277). I think Descartes would disagree with this based on the ability to doubt the feelings of the heart. I hold true to it based on the fact that we cannot know certainShow MoreRelated Descartes Vs.
